Beautiful Sconset Bluff – The Day After

There is some noticeable damage to the bluff, more undercutting and what were once straight cliffs in spots are now sloped considerably.  These shots were taken tonight. I have some that show more of the erosion. If you are interested just add a comment.

I’ve seen the “damage” done by the Atlantic on the dunes over here. A hotel I used to go to as a child was a good 100 metres (sorry for the metric bit) from the beach. Now it’s about 50 metres from it and every winter a few more centimetres, sometimes whole metres are swept away despite the efforts to stabilise the dune. The hotel owners are worried… Your erosion photos are stunning.

Thank you, Ciel.

I feel for the folks who have houses that have to be moved or lost. It would certainly be a hard pill to swallow.
