I like the blue and grey tones of these pictures; the movement of the willet is well captured. Very nice.
Have a nice day.
Though both are magnificent, I prefer the second one. It looks like it was enjoying stardom!
Thank you Dom and Ciel. I find myself drawn more and more to birds. They are not good at taking direction though…
Cool takes, Dirck. Really like the soft light mood in these, and the willet’s dance is very pleasing.
Excellent photo!
Thanks Barry and foto! The willet is a bird that I did not know, so it was fun to take the picture, then run home and look it up in a bird book.
Love the first one – so delicate and elegant.
I hope you’ll ride out the storm without any problem. Looks like your neck of the coast is going to get hit pretty hard.
Thank you, Claude. We are battening down the hatches right now. A lot of people are trying to get off-island. Labor Day weekend is always packed here. A lot of the boats are already canceled. We are staying here. We live about a mile from the shore.

Nice photos. So that’s what a Willet looks like up close. I wonder if it has the same markings as one on the West Coast? One of my father’s most well-known black and white photographs from Island In Time: The Point Reyes Peninsula was titled, “Willet On Drake’s Beach.” Island In Time helped make the Point Reyes National Seashore. His photograph shows the whole beach, the Willet is fairly small and mainly a silhouette. It is refreshing to see such a good photograph of the Willet itself.
Thanks David. Is your father’s photo “Willet On Drake’s Beach” available to be seen on-line? For that matter, is the book still available? We would be interested in seeing it!
magnifique, j’adore le mouvement dans la 2e photo.
Marie, merci beaucoup pour votre gentillesse.
the self reflection is beautifull, bravo, excellent photography
