One result of my recent bout of back pain is that I have been able to reassess how I am spending time at the computer. I am spending far too much time engaged with social networking and forums and not enough time doing the meticulous developing of our photographs and the desperately needed website update. So, even though it is a difficult decision, Dirck and I have decided to turn-off blog comments for a while and I am limiting my internet activity to responding to client’s emails and orders and getting the website redone.

Time is one resource we cannot redeem and it is important to use it wisely. We have unfinished work that we want to complete.

This shot is from the middle of this month. We had previously had some days of high surf and it appears they have left a lot of sand on this beach. The sand was driven all the way up to the top of the bank. It didn’t seem all that cold – 30ish – until we got by the water and we both had to add on the layers.

I have not been able to spend much time at my computer lately as I have had some back pain and have tried not to sit too much. I hope to get back to work soon!

Sharon’s late December sunset is emblematic of the closing of the year here on Nantucket. The island has given us unlimited opportunity to see and try to record the constantly changing sea and sky, and considering the significant erosion, the changing shoreline as well.

My wishes for the new year include a blizzard or two, a wild ocean and beautiful moors. I think the chances are good.

Dirck and I have photographs for sale in an upcoming benefit for the Marla Lamb Fund. This fund helps people on Nantucket who have cancer and their families travel off-island for treatment. This fund has provided much needed services for our family and we are happy to do something for them in return.

Marla Lamb Fund

The benefit is this Friday evening, December 2nd, from 6-8. It is a mystery art sale – you won’t know who made the art until after it is purchased and every piece is $125. 100% of the proceeds go to the Marla Lamb Fund. It is being held at the beautiful Quidley & Company Gallery at 26 Main Street here on Nantucket.

<a href="http://quidleyandco.com/" " target="_blank">Quidley & Company

This all takes place during the traditional Christmas Stroll Weekend which is Dec. 2nd – 4th this year.
