Questions of Privilege - A Van Lieu Photography Project

Excerpt from the Artists' Statement:

We photographed the bluff during the nor’easters, blizzards, and coastal flooding that have pounded this fragile land over the fall and winter of 2009-2010. Standing on the bluff's edge, exposed to wind gusts of over 60 mph, we sought to capture the power of the elements shaping the island.

Project Layout:

This project is divided into two parts. The first 18 pictures depict the southern end of 'Sconset bluff in winter. This area of the bluff has lost a significant amount of beach but the bluff itself is still protected. The next 18 pictures depict the northern end of the bluff which has been ravaged by erosion and is no longer the grass-covered slope it was half a century ago.

Print Information:

The fine art prints are made by Digital Silver Imaging which provides us with true black and white silver gelatin prints that are processed and printed to archival standards. They are offered in several sizes. Custom sizes are available.

Folio Information:

Each folio contains 36 images along with a title sheet signed by both photographers and our artists statement. Image size is 9 inches by 6 inches on an 11 inche by 8.5 inch sheet of Epson Exhibition Fiber Paper and are printed by the photographer.
